Christmas Tips- Planning a Great Family Reunion and Preserving the Good Memories

During Christmas, most of you may hold a family reunion. Need any tips for planning a great one and preserving the good memories?

At a family reunion, you can not only share time with loved ones, but also meet your new relatives. You can seize this opportunity to gather precious genealogy information. It will be a rewarding experience. Furthermore, you can collect many stories that happened in the last year, and took photos of your families as a souvenir. The reunion itself will become part of the lore of family history.

Here I would like to list some tips for planning a great family reunion during Christmas step by step. Hope these tips can help.
->Decide what kind of party to have and where to have the reunion.
->Determine who will be in charge of the event. Ask for volunteers if necessary.
->Choose a suitable date. The more people you plan to invite, the more advance notice you will need to give. Leave plenty of time for your guests to plan.
->Make a guest list. Start with the people for whom you have complete contact information. Then call them to jog your memory about long-lost relatives.
->Formulate a budget. It depends on how many people will be invited. So make your guest list carefully first.
->Determine who will handle expenses. In most cases, each family member shares the cost of the event.
->Prepare invitations and mail them out. Note you should include all the important details about the reunion in the invitation. Leave plenty of time for people to respond and ask everyone to make you know if they will attend.
->Give a phone call to verify the guest list after the invitations. Because during Christmas, schedules are always hectic.
->Reserve rooms at a hotel near the reunion site if necessary. Many hotels offer discounts for special events which require several rooms during Christmas.
->Review all arrangements again. Make sure all things are prepared well. Ensuring rooms are ready, food is served promptly and accommodations are comfortable.
->Make your family reunion memorable. Take plenty of photos. Hire a professional photographer or a video-camera person to film the reunion, or assign this task to an experienced family member. You also need to prepare some funny activities for the reunion.
->Get a volunteer or volunteers at the reunion to make out something valuable that includes stories, photos and news items from the reunion. Then send a copy to all your families who have attended the reunion.

As it how to preserve the photos and videos taken during the family reunion, here is a small tip that may very helpful.
Insert all your photos and videos into PowerPoint. Add certain descriptions and background music into it. Or directly make a photo album with PowerPoint. After finishing making the PowerPoint, you can burn the PowerPoint to DVD with DVD menus. Then send a copy of the DVD disc to each member who has attended the family reunion as a Christmas gift.
You can click here to know how to burn PowerPoint to DVD with DVD menus step by step.

Advantages of doing so:
->PowerPoint is easy to operate. It allows users to form the content freely
->DVD discs are ideal for long-time store. And DVD is supported by most computers and players.

Enjoy the happy hours spent with families and have a merry Christmas with these small tips. Leave a valuable Christmas memory in mind forever.

Christmas ideas – Making Christmas card with PowerPoint and podcast it on YouTube

Christmas is around the corner! Want to wish your dear ones blessings of joy on this special day? Sending elegant Christmas cards may be a good idea. Especially with the development of the Internet, more and more people tend to send electronic cards instead of paper-based ones to their friends and relatives.

Compared to the traditional cards, ecards are lively and more environment friendly. Besides, it is faster to give your wish by sending an ecard than mailing a postcard. As PC computers getting popular in modern life, ecard is easy to be accessed.

There are many web sites online on which you may find thousands of stunning

Now, let me show you the way of making your own Christmas card.

Since MS PowerPoint and Windows Movie Maker are available on most computers, below is a way of how to make a special and lively Christmas card yourself with the help of these two tools step by step.
1. If you want to personalize a video in your Christmas card
You can make use of the free tool
Windows Movie Maker which comes with all Windows XP and Vista installed computers. You can either directly capture a video from the video capture device or make one with existing videos, pictures and music. After the video is OK, you can further add effects, transitions and titles to the video. In simply 3 steps, a personalized video will be created.

Below is an example of how to capture a video for your Christmas card with WMM:
- Click Capture from video device in the Movie Tasks menu
- In the coming page, you can set the Mic Volume and configure the camera&Video settings

- Click Next। Then you will be able to see a blank needs you to enter a file name for your captured video and the place you want to save it on your computer.

- Click Next to continue। In the coming page, choose the video setting for your captured video। Choose Best Quality for Playback on my Computer is recommended।
- Go on clicking Next to the last step। In this page, you can start to capture video by clicking Start Capture, end the capture by clicking Stop Capture.

- After you have finished capture a video yourself, click Finish to end this process। The captured video will be displayed at the Collection area. Drag it to the video area in Timeline board. If you still want to add other pictures or music to form your video, you can do this by clicking Import Pictures and Import Audio or Music in the Movie Tasks menu. Then drag all of them to the corresponding area in Timeline board below.

- Right click each object in the Timeline board. Then you will be able to set the Video Effects and the Play Timeline for them.
- After you have adjusted all the settings for your video, you can save the video onto your computer by clicking Save Movie File in the File tab.

2. Form the content of your Christmas card with PowerPoint
As PowerPoint allows you to insert customized backgrounds, characters, pictures, animations, movies, and etc, you can take this advantage to make the content of your Christmas card colorful and meaningful. The video you made with Windows Movie Maker can also be inserted into the PowerPoint. Besides, you can input greetings and warm wishes into the PowerPoint.
In this process, you just need to make full use of your imagination to create the e- card.

3. Turn the PowerPoint you made to video format
The last step for making your own e- card is to convert the PowerPoint you made to video format. In this way, you can make your e- card look like a movie and upload it to websites such as
YouTube for wide sharing. After that, you can send out your Christmas greetings just with a video or a website link.

Here you can try this tool:

Business PowerPoint Presentation Tips

As a part of the Microsoft Office suite, PowerPoint has become the world's most widely used presentation program. It is widely used by business people, educators, students, trainers to make presentations. With this tool, one can easily and clearly display text, graphics, movies, and other objects in the form of a slide show. Whether it is used to prepare for a meeting, an exhibition or a course, PowerPoint helps us a lot.

In business areas, Microsoft PowerPoint especially makes us convenient in organizing all kinds of activities. Here I would list some top tips for creating successful business presentations.
Tip1. Present Your Topic by Using Key Phrases: Use key phrases that include only essential information. Choose only the top points about your topic and make them consistently throughout the delivery. Simplify and limit the number of words on each slide.

Tip2. Avoid Using Fancy Fonts: Choose a font that is simple and comfortable for audience to read such as Times New Roman and Arial. Use, at most, two different fonts. Keep all fonts large enough (at least 24 pt and preferably 30 pt) so that people at the back of the conference room will be able to see clearly what is on the screen.

Tip3. Make the Text’s Color and Background’s Color Contrastive: Dark text on a light background is best. Patterned or textured backgrounds would reduce the readability of text. Keep the color scheme consistent throughout your business presentation.

Tip4. Use Templates Effectively: When using a template, choose one that is appropriate for the content। A simple, straightforward layout is best if you are presenting to business clientele। The following maybe a choice

Download from: http://www.presentationhelper.co.uk/business-3-289.htm
For more free business PowerPoint templates:
http://www.presentationhelper.co.uk/free_business_powerpoint_template.htm

Tip5. Limit the Number of Slides: Do not try to insert too many slides, make sure that the presentation will not become too long. It also avoids the problem of continually changing slides during the business presentation. On average, one slide per minute is right.

Tip6. Try to Use Photos, Charts and Graphs: Embedding photos, charts, graphs and even digitized videos will add variety and keep your audience interested in the presentation. Avoid using only text in your slide.

Tip7. Avoid Cluttering Up with Too Many Transitions and Animations: While transitions and animations can attract your audience’s interest in the business presentation, too many of them would distract your audience from what you are saying.

Tip8. Make Sure Your Business Presentation Can Run On Any Other Computers: Try to use PowerPoint's Package for CD (PowerPoint 2003) or Pack and Go (PowerPoint 2000 and before) feature when trying to burn your presentation onto a CD. Besides your presentation, a copy of Microsoft’s PowerPoint Viewer is added to the CD to run PowerPoint presentations on computers that haven’t installed PowerPoint. But for presentations containing sounds and video clips, this is not a good idea, because all of them will be lost after packing to CD.

You can also burn your PowerPoint to DVD with a professional conversion tool. Acoolsoft PPT2DVD would be a good choice. Compare with the CD packing feature of PowerPoint, burn presentations to DVD with this tool can retain all sounds and videos and even internal links (links between slides)!

PPS to dvd - convert pps file to MPEG

Resources:

Someone asked me about how to burn PPS to DVD or convert PPS(PowerPoint) files to MPEG video that can be burned to DVD!

A PPS is just a PPT file with a different file extension that tells PowerPoint "Open me directly into slide show view, not editing view." You can "convert" from one to the other simply by renaming the files. You need the same software to view either one.

Here are some questions and solutions, hope it can help you:
Q:
Is there anyone here that can help me? I'm trying to take a slide show I created for and burn it to a DVD that will then play in a DVD player (I have pictures and music both embedded in the .pps)
Thanks.

A:If what you want to do is just a data back up, and you don't need to play your PowerPoint with a DVD player, common burning software is enough and No matter it is a CD or DVD. DVD disc have more space compare to CD.
If you want to watch PowerPoint on TV with a DVD player, here some aspects you need to pay attention to:
PowerPoint does not have the built-in ability to save presentations as video files or other video formats such as DVD-Video and, even if it did, there would be significant loss of interactivity (because DVD-Video and PowerPoint slide show have very different capabilities in this area) and loss of visual fidelity (DVD-Video resolution is less than typical computer display resolution and most television will not render colors the same way that a computer display will).

The only way to burn pps to DVD is to get specific PowerPoint to DVD software.
http://www.ppt-to-video.com/powerpoi…-overview.html

the other option is to use Windows Movie Maker but you would have to start from scratch and insert all the pictures onto it. I believe Windows XP and Windows Vista came with this free software so you probably have it. You click on Import Media and select the pictures you want (press Ctrl to select individual pictures). You can then use the Auto Movie button to add credits, music and transitions to your movie. Then burn it to DVD.

Q:I'm hoping to help a friend, who has to give a presentation, to convert a Powerpoint (.pps) file to either an MPEG file or, if possible, directly to a DVD format file. I downloaded a "Trial Version" of "Presentersoft PowerVideoMaker" and successfully converted the PPS file into MPEG format, which I then created a DVD with using my "Movie Factory" software. Unfortunately, both the MPEG file and the resultant DVD had a flashing notice on the bottom right corner of the video that it was "created with an unlicensed version of PowerVideoMaker". Since this will most likely be the only time that I will ever need to convert a PPS file, it really doesn't make sense for me to spend $ 125 CAD to buy the licensed version of PowerVideoMaker. So my question is this: Is anyone aware of any freeware available to convert PPS files to either MPEG's, AVI's or directly to DVD format?
A:There is no such thing as a free lunch if you want to get a better result! A trial program is much better.
and I must say I've never been that impressed with the results of any of the capture software I've tried, I can't say I'm that surprised, bearing in mind what must be the CPU load when both displaying PowerPoint and capturing a full screen. Even with a beast of a machine (Dual 2Ghz Athlon, 2Gb RAM, RAID array, 128Mb VGA) running at 800×600 and with all the performance boosting suggestions I've only ever achieved an unsatisfactory frame rate of approx 15fps. I can only increase the frame rate by reducing the resolution. Both options, in my opinion, are unsatisfactory when you consider that the media is DVD and capable of much more…
Am I missing something? I've used 3 methods to create DVDs that I've found more satisfactory than my screen capture results:
1) connecting the S-video out from a laptop to a domestic DVD recorder (i.e. one that records DVDs like a VCR). The DVD can then be taken to the PC, ripped and authored as desired.
2) Same process but capturing the video on another PC through an MPEG2 capture device, such as the the Win-TV PVR. I'm not 100% happy with these processes either, as it involves conversion to analogue video and back to digital, but the results have been far superior to my efforts with capture software.
3) Use
Acoolsoft PPT2DVD and burn PowerPoint(PPS) to DVD directly, great and easy way buy you have to pay for this program, anyway, it's worth the money if you want to get a wow presentaion on TV with a DVD disc.

Enjoy your time and presentation!

PPT2DVD - PPT to DVD with DVD menu enhanced

Bookmark using any bookmark manager!

Burning PowerPoint to DVD is a good idea for preserving presentations or extending the use of PowerPoint. You can either burn PowerPoint files to DVD disc directly, or convert it to video or DVD and then burn them to DVD disc. Converting PPT to DVD is different from converting PPT to video. To know the benefits of converting PowerPoint presentation to DVD comparing with converting to video, the best way is to understand the DVD structure.

The DVD menu matters

When we play a video DVD with DVD machine, in most conditions, we see a main menu first, which allows us to decide how the movie will be played: Select subtitle language, choose a conversation language, start from a specific chapter, etc. While playback, we can use navigation buttons on the remote control to rewind or skip through movies. Also, we can back to title menu or main menu to play another movie or chapter. The menu function is not supported by common video files.  Let's back to PowerPoint presentation. When we slide show with PowerPoint, we can advance presentation animation by animation and slide by slide, moreover we can build internal hyperlinks to go to a specific slide and turn back. With DVD menu, all these practical features will be inherited.  But a raw video has no way to retain them.

Understanding DVD structure

What does a DVD disc contain? Actually, if you open a movie DVD disc on your computer, you should see two folders: AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. AUDIO_TS is created for storing DVD Audios (for audio DVD only), while the VIDEO_TS contains all data for the movie. Video DVD is what we concerned in this article, so let's take a look at the data contained in VIDEO_TS directory.

Usually, we should find three kinds of files under the VIDEO_TS: .BUP, .IFO and .VOB. IFO file is the content of the DVD. It tells the player where a chapter starts, where a certain audio or subtitle stream is located, etc. BUP files are just backup files of the IFOs. If the IFO files cannot be read, the player will read the BUP files instead. Next is the VOB file, it is a container that stores video stream, audio stream, subtitles and DVD menu. Video is MPEG-2, audio can be AC-3, Linear PCM, Mpeg 2 multichannel or MPEG1 layer2 two channel audio. It is why the DVD is encoded in MPEG-2 but not a MPEG-2 video.

Things about PowerPoint

Now, let's back to PowerPoint. If we burn a PowerPoint presentation to DVD disc in manual mode, we can use DVD remote control to navigate the converted video just like we doing so with PowerPoint. A professional PPT to DVD conversion tool should empower users to create and designed DVD menu.  The following illustration shows the title menu of a DVD, which is created by Acoolsoft PPT2DVD.

Here is the screenshots of Main page and ending page menu

PowerPoint backup to DVD and CD

How can I package my PowerPoint to a CD or DVD disc?
I am preparing PowerPoint presentations for my Classmates at our 50th High School Reunion. I need to know if I can burn PowerPoint to DVD and these will play on TV's & Computers for my Classmates.

Would like to play a PowerPoint presentation at a birthday party but no pc will be available only a DVD player?
...
These are common questions often asked by a lot of people, if you have ever lost your valuable PowerPoint presentation because your computer crashed or had one of your PowerPoint file ruined, and you are ready for an important presentation, but your PowerPoint cannot open. Then you know the value of having a backup copy and you may just want to play your PowerPoint on TV without a computer or PowerPoint program installed.
If you haven't experienced this yet, it's just a matter of time.

So it's time for us to tell you some tips and tricks about PowerPoint backup to a CD or DVD disc. Before we start, some questions needed to be figured out first .I split this tips into several parts:

Difference between a CD and DVD disc

Can I play PowerPoint with DVD player after I burn PowerPoint to CD or DVD?
How can I play PowerPoint on a CD or DVD player?

How to package and copy a presentation to a CD or DVD in PowerPoint?

Protect your PowerPoint presentation

Burn PowerPoint to video DVD and watch it on TV with DVD Menus

What's difference between a CD and DVD disc?
CD is usually for computer files, music and pictures. DVD holds more, because they're for movies, animations, etc. You can use DVD to store data and music if you want to, but they're just a tad more expensive.

Both CD and DVD write data in "pits" on the surface of disc. But, DVD technology writes data in smaller pits to the recordable media than CD technology. Smaller pits mean that for the same available area, more data can be stored. Moreover, the available data area for DVD disc is larger than the one of CD. A recordable CD disc has the capacitance of 700MB, while a DVD-/+R disc has about 4.7GB. The DVD is 6 times more than the CD.

Can I play PowerPoint with DVD player after I burn PowerPoint to CD or DVD?

If what you do is just a data backup (PowerPoint has a function of "Package for CD", which I will explain later), the burnt CD or DVD cannot be played on DVD machines. For example, after burn PowerPoint files to CD and DVD directly with common burning software, like Nero, the burnt disc cannot be played using DVD machine, because they are only Data CDs or DVDs. DVD machine can only play video DVDs, just like CD players only play audio CDs with music tracks. Of course, they will work on your computer.

How can I play PowerPoint on a CD or DVD player?

So, from what we have discussed above, you must convert your PPT files to video first, PowerPoint does not have the built-in ability to save presentations as video files or other video formats such as DVD-Video and, even if it did, there would be significant loss of interactivity (because DVD-Video and PowerPoint slide show have very different capabilities in this area) and loss of visual fidelity (DVD-Video resolution is less than typical computer display resolution and most television will not render colors the same way that a computer display will).

Using
Windows movie maker is a free way to save your PowerPoint to video format, but you may lose timings, animations, transitions and audio tracks that an engaging presentation should have. We will tell you how to do this in the other tip.
If you search through Google, you will find a lot of PowerPoint to video software, but not all of them works well for specific presentations and
computers. Acoolsoft PPT2Video Converter is a no time limit program. You can try it for free, before you decide to pay the bill.

How to package and copy a presentation to a CD or DVD in PowerPoint?

PowerPoint has an option "package for CD"; this function enables you to pack up PPT Viewer, presentation, and any collateral linked files (e.g., audio and video clips). Then you can burn the Viewer, presentation, and linked files to a CD or DVD disc. This helps you view PowerPoint on computer without PowerPoint program installed. Take PowerPoint 2007 for example:

Firs Click "Office Button", then "Publish", Now "Package for CD".

powerpoint-cd.jpg

Now there will be a dialog box which you can make some choices:

powerpoint-cd1.jpg

It's easy for you to add some other PowerPoint files, but they will be adjusted automatically to the format which can be opened on PowerPoint viewer (PowerPoint viewer cannot cope with PowerPoint 2007 files). You can also choose to copy to folder or CD.

You must understand this is just a simple data backup, so you can only open you PowerPoint presentation on a Computer with CD & DVD recorder. You can't play it with a DVD player or CD player.

Protect your PowerPoint presentation

Someone may want to prevent their Presentations from unauthorized accessing or editing. Luckily, "Package for CD" enables you to do it easily.

Just Click "Options" on the right of dialog box:

powerpoint-cd-option.jpg

There are two options, one is used to protect from opening with password, the other is used to protect from editing.
Now you know how to protect your PowerPoint from unauthorized opening or editing.
Another method is converting PowerPoint to video and burn PowerPoint to video CDs and video DVDs with software like
Acoolsoft, which we have discussed above.
Enjoy yourself.

Ok, here are some questions, some of you may be encounter strange problems, the most we often heard is every thing goes ok when view PowerPoint on the computer you used to package for CD. But some files cannot open when you insert the CD into other computer. That because you didn't put the link files and PPT files in the same folder when you package PPT to CD. It's only a link to the file on your computer but not include in your CD or the folder you packaged.  Of course, you can't open it on other computer.
So make sure you put everything in the same folder when you decide to burn your wonderful PowerPoint presentations to CD and share with others.

Burn PowerPoint to video DVD and watch it on TV with DVD Menus

You cannot burn PowerPoint to DVD directly and play it with a DVD player, because PowerPoint is not MPEG-2 Video formats which you can burn to disc directly with common burning software like Easy Media Creator, Power2Go and so on. You need certain software to convert your PowerPoint to MPEG-2 or that software has the function of burning PowerPoint to DVD directly. Here is a tip which introduces at least 5 methods to burn PowerPoint to video DVD.

But some one may wondering about how to create DVD menus when burning to DVD so that we can control our presentation when we are showing in on TV or big screen with DVD player.

Microsoft office does not include software to assist you, today, there are no freeware utilities that perform this activity for you, but there are many commercial packages available that have free trial periods.
Software of this type ranges in price from $40 - $200 for personal licenses, and much more for commercial or multi-user licenses. Here I recommend you take
Acoolsoft PPT2DVD to have a try!

Acoolsoft PPT2DVD is a powerful presentation tool that lets you convert PowerPoint presentations to video and burn it to DVD without any complicated technical skills. You can even create flexible DVD Menus for your PowerPoint presentations to play on TV with a DVD remote control.

    PowerPoint to video

What video formats we are talking about?

A Video refers to recording, manipulating, and displaying moving images, especially in a format that can be presented on a television.
Video formats are confusing because most video files have at least two different types: the container and the codec used inside that container. I'll list some common video formats that we often used :
AVI (.avi): Most commonly contains M-JPEG (especially from digital cameras?) or DivX (for whole movies), but can contain nearly any format (not Sorenson).? Sometimes you'll see a reference to the "fourcc": this is a four-character code (such as "divx" or "mpeg") inside the AVI container which specifies which video codec is being used.
    QuickTime
(MOV): Most often used for the locked Apple Sorenson codec, or for Cinepak (free), but can also hold other codes such as mjpeg, etc.
WMV (.wmv): More or less MPEG4; can contain nearly any codec, including several Microsoft spinoffs of MPEG-4 which vary in their freedom and licensing requirements.
ASF ("Advanced Streaming Format", .asf): a subset of wmv, intended primarily for streaming: an early Microsoft implementation of an MPEG4 codec.
MPEG ("Moving Pictures Expert Group"): three video formats, MPEG 1, 2, and 4.
MPEG-1: Old, supported by everything (at least up to 352x240), reasonably efficient, most used in VCD.
MPEG-2: A souped-up version of MPEG-1, with better compression.? 720x480.?Used in HDTV, DVD, and SVCD.
MPEG-4: A family of codecs, some of which are open, others Microsoft proprietary. ?A good format for the web.
MPEG spinoffs: mp3 (for music) and VideoCD

    Disadvantages of PowerPoint
PowerPoint presentation can work only on computer having Windows Operating system and Microsoft PowerPoint installed in it. Also there are some problems due to system version conflicts. Your PowerPoint presentation is not going to work because of incorrect operating system version.

Don't worry, here is a solution. You can convert PowerPoint to video, it can be played on any operating system.and it is your final presentaion.

Still confused? Take a look at advantages of converting PowerPoint to video

First of all, you know that PowerPoint can only be played on PC with Microsoft PowerPoint installed, and sometimes it must be the right PowerPoint version with right operating system, if any of them has problem, your PowerPoint presentation plan can become a deadlocked, but if you convert PowerPoint to video formats, you don't need to worry about it, since video formats can be played on any PC or Mac system. Where video is played means your PowerPoint can be shown.

The next thing is many gadgets like iPod, iPhone, Zune support certain video format; you can import the converted PowerPoint video presentation and then view your PowerPoint presentation on them. Some famous websites like YouTube are support video upload, which gives you a way to share your PowerPoint presentation with others!

Besides, if you want to protect your PowerPoint from others edit, you can convert them to video and sent to others, what they can do is just watching!
I only list some of the advantages, I think there should be more, explore yourself

Free way for Converting PowerPoint to video
Bill Gates didn’t provide plug-in into Microsoft PowerPoint, which can convert PowerPoint into video. You should be aware of some top software, which can do this job for you and that too at free of cost. Yes, this can be done for free but it's tricky.

Here are steps for doing so:
    - Save all PowerPoint slides in JPG format.
    - Now make video by importing all images to Windows Movie Maker.

    Disadvantages of free Conversion
There are some disadvantages after converting PowerPoint into video, which are given below:
*All animation is being gone from presentation, thus resulting into dreary presentation with no charm at all.
*Moreover, presentation doesn't contain audio anymore and it takes lots of pain to add audio into video. These all points bring home the fact that when your slideshow presentation doesn't contain any animation, video or audio clips then this conversion can be helpful to you, else it may not solve your problem. Here are some principles that may be helpful to you in conversion.

How to converting PowerPoint to video:
1.The first method is to play slideshow on your screen and to record it at the same time with screen recording application like Wondershare DemoCreator. But I want to suggest one thing regarding screen recorder that while conversion you will not be able to do any other job and you need to open PowerPoint each time. Also there are chances of loosing animation, audio tracks etc. One more disadvantage is that you cannot convert all PowerPoint pieces at same time.

2.The Second method is using software available on various website. You can find lots of software application for PowerPoint conversion to video and also promising of providing best quality output. But you need to find the best one, so our suggestion is to take free trail prior to purchase. This method will keep everything retained as original, so far is the best way.

    And I advice you to take Acoolsoft PPT2Video Converter to have a try! you can learn more about this software from here;
